Hyundai plans to become the first car maker to replace automobile cigarette lighters with USB ports in its domestic models, The Telegraph said.
Passenger cars and SUVs sold in Korea will come with USB ports from October. The change is being made in response to survey results that showed many Koreans use the lighter port to recharge cellular phones and portable computers rather than light cigarettes, according to The Telegraph.
Hyundai plans to survey car buyers in other parts of the world before deciding whether to strip lighters from export models, the newspaper said in a story on its website that cited a company spokesman.
