Imperial Tobacco Canada filed suit against the Nova Scotia ban on flavoured tobaccos including menthol cigarettes to take effect on 31 May, the Canadian Press said.
Imperial asked the Nova Scotia Supreme Court to rule whether the province exceeded its authority, the news agency reported. Alberta also is considering whether to ban menthol tobacco. Ban proponents say menthol products have strong appeal to youth.
