Imperial Tobacco is consolidating supply chain services in Kiev by constructing a warehouse capable of storing the production equivalent of 40 billion cigarettes and materials, the company said.
The facility will be Ukraine’s tallest high-bay warehouse at 34 metres and provide space for 16,000 pallets including a 4,000 sq m (43,000 sq ft) handling area with eight loading bays, Imperial said.
“State-of-the-art systems planned in Kiev have been developed to become the standard for other sites across the Group”, said Edgar Gerke, HBW Kiev programme manager. “This new warehouse and associated handling area will bring supply chain services and storage currently outsourced back under our control.
