Imperial Tobacco has no interest in developing heat-not-burn products, a stark contrast to global competitors that have launched or plan to market devices, Reuters reported.
Although Philip Morris International launched its iQOS product using Marlboro HeatSticks late last year and Japan Tobacco International acquired the heat-not-burn brand Ploom and intellectual property from Pax Labs early this year, Imperial Corporate Affairs Director Matthew Phillips reportedly said, “it’s not something we’re interested in.”
Imperial owns Fontem Ventures, a company that develops and markets non-tobacco products that include the Puritane e-cigarette. British American Tobacco plans to test a heat-not-burn product this fiscal year, according to Reuters.
