Swedish tobacco group Skruf Snus said on 20 September 2005 that it had formed an alliance with Imperial Tobacco after the British firm bought 43.5 per cent in the firm.
Skruf Snus manufactures and sells wet snuff, a smokeless tobacco popular in Sweden but banned in the rest of the EU. The dominant player in the market is Swedish Match.
No financial details of the Skruf deal were disclosed, but the Swedish firm said it had also signed an agreement to distribute Imperial Tobacco cigarette brands Davidoff and Paramount, as well as cigarette paper brand Rizla.
