GERMANY
InterTabac and InterSupply have kicked off

After a two-year break, the tobacco industry is looking forward to the “comeback of the year” at Messe Dortmund: InterTabac and InterSupply, the world’s leading trade fairs for the tobacco industry, will take place from September 15 to 17: More than 600 bookings have been received for InterTabac and InterSupply, 160 exhibitors will be represented at the trade fair duo for the first time, and for some of them it will even be their premiere on the international or European market. And also two superstars from Germany and the US will not miss the visit in Dortmund.

InterTabac and InterSupply had to take a break for two years due to the Corona pandemic, but now they are back in full force: more than 600 exhibitors from 69 countries plan to be there from September 15 to 17 in nine halls of Messe Dortmund to meet trade visitors, partners and media representatives. Live on site, the focus will then be on exchanging ideas with each other and presenting and trying out new products. Exhibitors and visitors alike can also look forward to innovations such as the ‘International Cigar Pavilion’ and the tried-and-tested diverse programmeme, which is made up of exciting key notes, discussion forums and comprehensive information on current trends and topics in the industry. A visit is therefore worthwhile in any case – and accordingly, the Who’s Who of the tobacco industry will meet again at Messe Dortmund.
Among others, there will be two real superstars from the USA and Germany who will not miss the “comeback of the year”: Multiple boxing world champion Mike Tyson will visit InterTabac on Friday (September 16) and will be on site at the stand of exhibitor “Futurola” with his own collection. German Hollywood actor and former bodybuilder Ralf Moeller will also be visiting the trade fair duo as a star guest and will be available to visitors free of charge on Saturday (September 17) for a joint tour of the trade fair and for photos at the social media wall in the modern North Entrance.
For more than 40 years, InterTabac has established itself as the world’s largest trade fair for tobacco products and smokers’ supplies. In 2015, InterSupply, which has been held in parallel since then, celebrated its premiere as an international trade fair for the manufacturing process of tobacco products, e-cigarettes, pipes and hookahs.

Experience the diversity of the industry in nine halls

This year, the exhibitors of the trade fair duo occupy a total of nine halls. As at the beginning of InterTabac and InterSupply, the classic segment around cigars, cigarettes, pipes, pipe tobacco and fine cut is again strongly represented this year. Exhibitors from these segments occupy the largest area at Messe Dortmund with Halls 4 to 7. Here, in addition to established and long-standing exhibitors, there are also many new companies presenting themselves to trade visitors – for example in the ‘International Cigar Pavilion’. This is being held at InterTabac for the first time this year and brings together some exclusive names such as “JRE Tobacco”, “Black Star Line Cigars”, “Blue Mountain Cigars” and also “Cornelio Cigar”. Thematically, the focus this year in the “classic segment” is particularly on hand-picked cigars from family-run manufactories and limited editions or new, high-quality designs for pipe lovers.
In the neighbouring Hall 6, visitors will find everything to do with the topic of ‘Point of Sale’. Here, various exhibitors with a focus on specialized trade as well as renowned wholesalers are represented. They will give retailers and other interested parties a comprehensive overview of current topics and trends. Of course, store fittings and checkout systems for the retail trade will also be on show, as will supplementary ranges including press products, spirits and lighters.
In the Westfalenhalle and Halls 1 and 2, visitors will find Next Generation Products (NGP), which are right on trend and have been complementing the classic segments for several years. NGP includes “heat-not-burn” products, everything to do with vaping, e-cigarettes and e-liquids, as well as Potentially Risk Reduced Products (PRRP) and Cannabidiol (CBD). ‘Snus’, already popular in Scandinavia, will also be presented on site. A special feature is the opportunity to test different products and flavours, because as in the other halls, trying is explicitly encouraged. This gives retailers, for example, the opportunity to take home impulses for their own product range composition – even beyond the classic segment.
In part of Hall 6 and the entire Hall 8, shisha suppliers and the associated accessory products, such as coals, will again be represented this year.
In Hall 3, the InterSupply Hall, visitors can find out about the comprehensive range relating to the manufacturing processes for tobacco products and liquids, as well as their processing and packaging. Here, as in the other halls, there are dozens of new exhibitors to discover.
Visitors can reach all nine halls via three entrances and exits: In addition to the main entrance to the Westfalenhalle, the North and West entrances to the trade fair are open, as in previous years. This means that all exhibitors can be reached quickly and conveniently by visitors.

Comprehensive programme

In addition to the new exhibitors, products and trends, those in attendance can look forward to a comprehensive programmeme that covers all the current topics and challenges facing the entire industry. It was developed together with leading industry experts and thus offers real added value for every trade fair visitor.
In the Classic segment, visitors will be able to taste, smoke and sniff at the “Cigar & Rum Pairing” on September 15 and 16. Experts will be using unusual combinations to create completely new taste experiences for trade visitors and, through the combination with spirits, will offer suggestions for advisory talks in the trade, among other things. Pairing will take place on September 15 and 16 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Bergen conference room, North Entrance. In addition, in the exciting lecture “How the west was won” on September 16, Scott Pearce and Josh Habursky from the “Premium Cigar Assocation” from the US will present the strategies with which their organisation has successfully fought against the overregulation of the premium cigar market by the US federal government.
In the NGP area, too, visitors can look forward to an exciting programmeme. Two special programme items have been created in cooperation with the German Tobacco Newspaper (DTZ) and will be hosted exclusively by Editor-in-Chief Marc Reisner: In the “Speed Fire Presentations on NGPs”, a number of up-and-coming newcomers from the field of Next Generation Products will be presenting themselves on September 15 from 1:30 p.m. in the London/Bruges conference room. In the same conference room, leading industry experts will talk about the trendy topic of cannabis in the “Hemp Talk by DTZ” on September 16 at 11:00 am.
Of course, the programme will also highlight the political situation of the tobacco market: Important impulses on the legal dimension of the NGP market will be given by lawyer Pablo Cano Trilla on Friday at 1:30 p.m., also in the London/Bruges room, in his presentation “EU overview: market and regulatory trends about alternative tobacco products”. Immediately afterwards, the European Confederation of Tobacco Retailers (C.E.D.T.) invites you to an open discussion in the same room on cutting-edge topics such as nicotine pouches, cannabis light, tobacco heaters and e-cigarettes.
Shisha lovers can look forward to a very special event: the “Hookah Battle Europe Cup 2022”. A jury consisting of leading personalities from major international hookah companies will decide which of the competing teams will build the best hookah on site. The competition will take place on September 16, 2022, starting at 4:00 p.m. Novgorod Room in the North Entrance.
The varied supporting programme will be rounded off on September 17 with the ceremonial presentation of the InterTabac Stars. The candidates for the awards will be selected by trade fair visitors. The product with the most votes wins the coveted award.

Worthwhile visit to InterTabac and InterSupply

Discover innovations, try new products and get a comprehensive overview of the current topics and trends in the tobacco industry: A visit to InterTabac and InterSupply is definitely worthwhile. “In many conversations we have had over the past few months, we have heard that InterTabac and InterSupply have really been missed by the international and national tobacco industry as a one-stop store. Now they are back, and people can come together again in Dortmund, try out new products and meet new suppliers. More than 600 bookings have been received for InterTabac and InterSupply, with over 160 of these exhibitors joining the event for the first time. This shows: The industry is behind the trade fairs. And innovations in content such as the ‘International Cigar Pavilion’ or our content platform ‘Business Insights’ will be very well received and will accordingly complement the trade fairs in the future,” says Sabine Loos, Managing Director of the Westfalenhallen Group.
The current exhibitor list, news, trade show highlights and up-to-date information are available on the trade show websites on the online platform Business Insights, LinkedIn or directly via newsletter.
