Japan Tobacco will resume shipment of all items in its revised domestic product palette two weeks earlier than planned and raise the ceiling imposed on retail orders after the March earthquake and tsunami.
Retailers can “substantially” increase amounts of goods ordered from JT beginning 4 July, the company announced. The remaining 15 items in JT’s revised product offering will be shipped beginning 18 July, instead of early August as initially envisioned, the company said in a statement.
JT earlier said it will not resume production of 23 low-volume products, reducing to 73 the number of products offered in Japan. The company said it plans new products for its key brands to gain market share. (ci)
