Japan Tobacco International (JTI), the third largest player on the Romanian cigarette market, will invest EUR 30 million in two new production lines at its plant in Bucharest, according to a report by Ziarul Financiar.
Gilda Lazar, corporate affairs and communications director of JTI Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia said the investment will boost the plant's degree of automation by mid-2010 and increase production capacity by 25 per cent compared with 2008.
The JTI plant in Bucharest currently exports one in five cigarettes to 35 markets, with company forecasts indicating a rise in volumes delivered to foreign markets by around 15 per cent next year. (pi)
