Japan Tobacco Inc. (JT) has reported a 12.1 per cent decrease in domestic cigarette sales volume, in comparison to the same period in the previous year, according to a company preliminary report.
The company, which had a 61.7 per cent market share in November 2017, has released a report on results for domestic cigarette sales for November. In November 2017, domestic cigarette sales decreased by 15 per cent in comparison to November 2016. During January to November 2017, figures show a volume decline of 84.9 billion cigarettes from 96.6 billion cigarettes over the same period in 2016.
Japanese domestic cigarette revenue also decreased during January to November 2017, in comparison to the same period in 2016. Japanese domestic cigarette revenue dropped from JPY 566.8 billion (EUR 4.27 billion) to JPY 505.2 billon (EUR 3.81 billion), which marks a 10.9 per cent decrease.
