Juul Labs, maker of the popular and controversial Juul e-cigarette, has said it will begin selling the product across the country in vapour shops, petrol stations and convenience stores, and on the company’s Canadian e-commerce website, the Toronto Star reported.

The company’s launch of Juul in the country follows the government’s May legalisation of the sale of vapour products through the passing of Bill S-5, which limits sales to those aged 19 years or older. Juul products that had been available for sale before the 30 August announcement were not sanctioned or endorsed by Juul Labs, according to Mike Nederhoff, general manager of the San Francisco company’s Canadian operations, the newspaper said.
According to the report, Juul pods, sold for use with the device, will be available with a 5 per cent nicotine level and the company plans to later make pods available with 3 per cent and 1.5 per cent nicotine levels. “The idea is to transition users off of combustible cigarettes and to a vaping system,” Nederhoff was quoted as saying.
