A court has prohibited Juul from selling its pods in Germany until further notice, Spiegel Online reported.
At the beginning of InterTabac in Dortmund, the American e-cigarette manufacturer received two interim injunctions from the Düsseldorf Regional Court: Juul may temporarily no longer sell its Juul pods for e-cigarettes in Germany if their nicotine content differs from the nicotine content indicated on the packaging, or if the symbol of the crossed-out waste bin for the disposal of electronic waste is missing on the cartridge, the report said.
Juul's competitor Niko Liquids had objected to the incorrect labels and applied to the court for a ban on sales. Juul denies the accusations. "We do not agree with the preliminary decision of the Düsseldorf Regional Court and will immediately appeal against it,” a Juul speaker was quoted as saying.
If Juul does not stop supplying retailers with the products complained about, penalties of up to EUR 250,000 could be imposed. Juul entered the German market at the end of 2018.
