Juul labs has unveiled JUUL2 with new technology and features for adult smokers in the UK, reports The Grocer.
Juul2 provides the capability to combat potentially harmful counterfeit and compatible pods. “The Juulpod ID feature significantly improves the company’s ability to identify unauthenticated products and prevent use at the device level, and the Juul2 device will only work with Juul2 pods,” the company said.
Given that UK customers ordering JUUL products online are required to go through a “rigorous age-verification process”, which includes photo ID age and identity verification, and that retailers stocking Juul2 products “will continue to uphold the company’s ‘Challenge 25’ age verification policy, which includes continued mystery shopping audits”, the company argues this will help limit underage use.
Juul Labs, in which Altria holds a minority stake, saw significant growth last year. The brand generated an additional GBP 16.9 million in sales, an 87 per cent increase on the previous year, the report said. This was partly thanks to the widespread closure of independent vape shops, which tend to sell more open-system devices with liquid refills.
