Kentucky became the 23rd jurisdiction settle a dispute with tobacco companies over Non-Participating Manufacture (NPM) adjustments under the Master Settlement Agreement (MSA), said Philip Morris USA.

“We think this resolution is good for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and for PM USA” said Denise Keane, executive vice president and general counsel for parent company Altria Group. Kentucky will receive funds that were set aside in a disputed payments account. PM USA and other tobacco companies will receive credits against future MSA payments.
Jurisdictions that have settled the NPM dispute include states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
