Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy petitioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ban the use of tobacco because it endangers public health, the Times of India reported.
Chandy made his plea in a letter to the Indian leader that said youth must be protected and passive smoking is lethal, the newspaper reported. A national ban is “highly essential,” Chandy reportedly wrote. (pi)
