Tobacco sales at most of the roughly 10,000 kiosks in the Ukrainian capital Kiev will be banned from 1 April to reduce availability to minors, the Kyiv Post reports.

The ban applies to street-side stores smaller than 40 square metres, which means most of the city’s kiosks will fall under the ban. Kiosk owners have protested against the measure and may challenge its legality, according to Kyiv Post. The ordinance also extends restrictions on hard alcohol street sales to beer and low-alcohol beverages. (pi)
