One of the largest warehouses for narcotics in Europe has been opened in Meerbusch, near Düsseldorf, reports WDR.
The operator is a cannabis wholesaler based in Cologne. There are now 5,000 storage places for narcotics in the warehouse, mainly for medical cannabis. That is twice as many storage places as before. According to its own information, the wholesaler supplies about 85 per cent of all pharmacies nationwide that distribute cannabis.
The demand for medical cannabis is increasing, a spokeswoman said. Doctors are prescribing it more and more often. And with the bigger warehouse, they also want to prepare for the possible legalisation of cannabis, which the federal government is planning. Meerbusch would then become the distribution hub for medical narcotics in Germany.
