The new law on government measures intended to curb tobacco smoking and its health hazard has been signed by the Ukrainian president.
The law that was earlier passed in parliament sets stricter standards for the designs of cigarette packages. Thus, health warnings must cover no less than 30 per cent of the pack’s surface. Also, limits for tar and nicotine yields are set at 12 and 1.2 mg per cigarette. Among the newly introduced regulations are a ban on sale of tobacco products to minors and stricter rules regarding smoking in public places, reports Rustabak.(vt)
