Austria’s lower house of parliament has voted in favour of overturning a ban on smoking in restaurants and bars, which is scheduled to come into effect May 2018, Reuters reported.
The ruling coalition of the conservative People’s party and the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) voted to stop the ban, despite a petition in favour of the ban signed by more than a half of million people living in Austria.
The overturning of the ban, which was introduced by the former government, still has to be approved by the upper parliament and signed by the president, according to the report.
