Health Minister Michael McGimpsey has announced that the legal age for purchasing tobacco products in Northern Ireland will be raised from 16 to 18.
The minister also outlined other measures he is taking to deter young people from taking up smoking such as education programmes and promotional campaigns which highlight the dangers of smoking.
