McLaren will use the branding of British American Tobacco's (BAT) e-cigarette product Vype for the first time at the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, Race Fans reported.
This is the first time that a Formula 1 team has promoted an e-cigarette product by name, the report said. It comes after McLaren and Ferrari cancelled their tobacco brand sponsors' promotions at the Australian Grand Prix after concerns were expressed about their compliance with tobacco advertising restrictions.
According to the report, McLaren replaced the slogans of BAT’s ‘A Better Tomorrow’ with a promotion for convenience store 7 Eleven in Australia. Ferrari also removed the branding of ‘Mission Winnow, an equivalent promotion from its long-term sponsor Philip Morris International.
