Information Officer of the National Health Education, Information and Communication Center, Dr Bhakta Bahadur KC, has said that preparations are underway to ban e-cigarettes (vape) in Nepal, reports myRepública.
Dr KC, said that the use of e-cigarettes amongst youths is on the rise in Nepal and that preparations are being made to ban the products which he says are just as harmful to health as cigarettes. Statistics show that in the last fiscal year, Nepal imported 3.2 million e-cigarettes and that the market is worth NPR 210 million (USD 1.6 million) with hookah and vape devices costing between NPR 10,000 (USD 74.16) and NPR 13,000 (USD 96.41), reports myRepública.
According to Dr KC, the letter of intent to ban e-cigarettes has already been sent to the Ministry of Health and Population.
