“Business Insights” has released a new podcast with ITGA’s CEO Mercedes Vazquez talking about sustainable agriculture in tobacco farming.
Sustainability is the buzzword in the transformation towards modern agriculture. In the tobacco industry, ecological and environmentally friendly processes are becoming increasingly important. Mercedes Vazquez is a guest in the latest edition of the podcast "Tobacco & Vape, News & Views". This is a podcast series on “Business Insights”, the interactive platform of InterTabac, the world's largest trade fair for tobacco products and smoking accessories. Vazquez is the new CEO of the International Tobacco Growers’ Association (ITGA), an association of global tobacco farmers and producers.
In the podcast, she talks about the challenges facing farmers and companies in sustainable agriculture and what support the industry is offering or developing for these transformation processes. Other topics include child labour in the tobacco industry and how the ITGA is trying to prevent it. The tobacco industry's role model character in sustainable cultivation is also discussed.
