A bill that would have banned the sale of most flavoured nicotine products in Colorado failed to get out of a Senate committee, putting it on hold for this session, reports The Denver Post.

Members of the Senate appropriations committee voted down the bipartisan proposal, HB22-1064, on a 5-2 vote. It would have banned all flavoured tobacco products and nicotine liquids, except premium cigars and shisha tobacco. However, some flavoured tobacco products could soon disappear from the shelves. The US Food and Drug Administration has proposed banning menthol in cigarettes and all flavourings in cigars.
Amanda Wheeler, president of the American Vapor Manufacturers, released a statement praising the Senate appropriations committee’s vote not to advance the bill. “Colorado rejecting the flavour ban is a signal for other jurisdictions to refocus public health efforts on what works — vaping,” she was quoted as saying.
