Movies and TV shows are no longer allowed to feature long scenes with smokers and shots that show cigarette brands, reports the Wall Street Journal.
These new rules were announced by China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT). Also, anyone lighting up cannot be shown on the same screen as a minor.
SARFT did not specify exact timeframes for acceptable smoking scenes, which suggests individual censors will be given some discretion to decide how much smoking is too much. (pi)
