Tobacco product packaging will feature pictorial health warnings from 1 November, 2018, Ghana News Agency said.
A statement signed by Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drug Authority (FDA), Delese Darko, warned manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and the public of the impending changes to tobacco packaging.
The warnings will grace the front and back of packaging for all tobacco products, will include information about emissions and constituents, and will replace the current textual health warnings, the news agency reported.
The size of the warnings was not specified.
The FDA statement said the new warnings will fulfil the obligations set out in section 10 of the Tobacco Control Regulations, and Ghana's obligations as a party to the World Health Organisation's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.
