Debra Crew, president and general manager of PepsiCo North America Nutrition, will head RJ Reynolds Tobacco (RJRT) from 1 Oct, said Reynolds American.
Andrew Gilchrist, current RJRT president and chief commericial officer, will become executive vice president at parent company Reynolds American, where he initially will assist Crew take over as president of the cigarette company. Gilchrist's role following the transition will be announced at a later date, Reynolds American said.
RJRT is the second largest US tobacco company. A takeover bid tabled by Reynolds American for Lorillard, the number three cigarette maker, would bring the number one US menthol cigarette, Newport, into a stable of brands that include Camel and Pall Mall.
