SINGAPORE
Plain packs enforced from July 2020

All tobacco products in Singapore will be sold in standardised packaging with enlarged graphic warnings starting 1 July 2020, Business Insider reported.

All tobacco product packaging, including cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, beedies, and roll-your-own tobacco products such as ang hoon, will not be allowed to have logos, colours, images and promotional information starting 1 July 2020, according to the report. Brand and variant names will be allowed, but they will have to be printed in a standard colour and font, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said, Business Insider reported.
In addition to that, the Ministry of Health announced that the minimum size of mandatory graphic health warnings will be increased to cover 75 per cent of all specified tobacco product packaging surfaces from the current 50 per cent requirement. According to the report, first offenders who do not comply with the new regulations can be fined up to SGD 10,000 (EUR 6,519) and or face up to six months in prison, MOH was quoted as saying. The MOH added that individuals who have convicted multiple times for the same offense will face heavier penalties.
Tobacco manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers will have a three-month transition period from April 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020 to adjust to the new packaging regulations, Business Insider reported.
