Health minister Robin Swann has outlined plans that would see smoking in vehicles with more than one person banned, reports BBC News.

The aim behind the potential ban is to protect other people, especially children, from the effects of second hand smoke and anyone who breaks the proposed regulation could face a GBP 50 fine.
"Children and young people are more vulnerable to the harmful effects of second-hand smoke as they breathe more rapidly and inhale more pollutants per pound of body weight than adults," said Swann.
The health minister also wants to ban the sale of nicotine inhaling products such as e-cigarettes to under 18s, stating that while the number of young people starting to smoke has declined, he does not want to see the trend replaced by vaping, according to BBC News.
"Nicotine is highly addictive and, according to the World Health Organisation, exposure to nicotine whilst still in adolescence can lead to long-term consequences for brain development,” he said.
The new regulations could come into effect in early 2022, if they are supported by Northern Ireland Assembly members.
