Philip Morris USA is suing 30 retailers for allegedly selling counterfeit Marlboro cigarettes in New York City, parent company Altria said.
New York City is probably one of the top markets for counterfeit Marlboros because it has the highest cigarette tax in the US, PM USA said. Counterfeit cigarettes primarily are made in China and smuggled into the US, the cigarette maker said. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court. (ci)
