Philip Morris International (PMI) and Altria will expand cooperation on reduced risk tobacco products to include joint research, development and technology sharing, the companies said.
Altria will market two PMI products in the US, including the iQOS heat-not-burn system, for which PMI has said it would seek US government approval as modified risk products. The iQOS application to the Food and Drug Administration should come next year, PMI reiterated. Altria is making its e-vapor products available to PMI for marketing outside the US.
“The agreement also provides for exclusive technology cross licenses, technical information sharing and cooperation on scientific assessment, regulatory engagement and approval related to e-vapor products,” Altria said.
