PMI inaugurated a HUF 3 billion (USD 10.1 million) e-cigarette recycling centre in Gyál on the outskirts of Budapest, according to MTI, Budapest Business Journal reported.
Miguel Coleta, director of sustainability at PMI, said the centre could recycle 150,000 electric tobacco devices per month, but that capacity could be increased. He said the company chose the site because of Hungary's economic stability and favourable investment environment.
State Secretary Tamás Menczer said the investment would create 100 jobs, pointing out that PMI has only one other recycling centre in Japan, according to the report.
PMI’s revenues in Hungary amounted to over HUF 230 billion (USD 779 million) last year.
