Philip Morris International (PMI) announced a series of senior management changes, including reviving the post of chief operating officer to be filled by current CFO Jack Olczak and the addition of two geographic operating regions.

Martin King, the current Asia Region president, will replace Olczak as chief financial officer and the number of regional chiefs will be increased to six, PMI said. CEO André Calantzopoulos, who served as COO from the 2008 spinoff of Philip Morris’s international operations until May, 2013, will continue as chief executive.
Senior Vice President and General Counsel Marc Firestone was promoted to the newly created position of President, External Affairs and General Counsel. His appointment, “reflects the increasing importance of engagement with regulatory authorities in the context of our reduced-risk products,” PMI said. PMI said the restructuring to take effect at the onset of 2018 is, “intended to drive the company’s transformation towards a smoke-free future while maintaining its financial performance.”
