Philip Morris International (PMI) Chief Operating Officer André Calantzopoulos will replace Louis Camilleri in May as chief executive at the leading international tobacco company, PMI announced.
CEO Camilleri will step down after the 8 May annual shareholders meeting, but remain as PMI board chairman. Calantzopoulos, 55, will return to the CEO job, which he held from 2002 until 2008, when PMI was spun off from Altria Group and Camilleri became CEO.
“After 11 years leading PMI and its former parent, and with the company squarely poised for future success, I decided the time has come for me to relinquish my executive role,” Camilleri said in the statement. (ci)
