The Ukrainian tobacco industry guild, Ukrtutun, incorporating all major cigarette manufacturers, registered a 26 per cent production boost in November on year-to-year basis.
110 billion cigarettes have been manufactured by the member companies over eleven months, 18 per cent up form a year before. Most impressive growth was posted by the market leaders, JTI, PM and Imperial Tobacco, whereas BAT’s Priluki facility showed a 3.3 per сent drop in production in eleven months. With the tobacco consumption reaching 90 to 95 billion cigarettes per year by most optimistic estimates, overproduction on the market is clearly building up. (vt)
