In order to prevent the usage of nicotine pouches, the Finnish government is proposing the products be covered by current tobacco laws, reports ICENEWS.
The legal reform will be proposed with the goal of fighting the use of oral nicotine among Finnish youths. The planned measures would include prohibiting online sales, limiting flavours, and capping pouch nicotine levels to 20 milligrams per gram, reports ICENEWS.
The measures would mean that retailers would need a specific license to continue selling the products and importers would face restrictions.
According to ICENEWS, the fact that nicotine pouches have been readily available in Finland has led to a reduction in smuggling of the products from Sweden.
