Anti-smoking advocates greeted Inter-tabac and ProTobEx in Manila on Thursday, saying the tobacco trade fair doesn’t belong in a location where cigarette prices are low and the smoking rate is high, according to media reports.
As many as 2,000 people picketed the fair, according to reports in the Wall Stree Journal online edition and the Associated Press. Officials from the World Health Organisation and WHO’s Framework Convention on Tobacco Control were cited in the accounts.
The twin exhibitions in the Philippines International Convention Centre run from 15 to 17 March. (pi)
