Rajasthan’s council of ministers today approved a ban on the production, storage, distribution and sale of gutkha to protect public health, the Times of India reported.
Violators of the ban on the sweetened mixture that includes betel nuts and chewing tobacco will face fines, the newspaper said on its website. States that have banned gutkha include Pradesh, Madhya, Bihar, Kerala and Maharashtra. (pi)
