Zimbabwe’s tobacco marketing season is going well with a record 260.6 million kilogrammes of tobacco having been sold so far, reports The Sunday Mail.
Tobacco sales in Zimbabwe have gone through the roof with the latest figures from the Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) showing that a total of 260.6 million kg had been delivered by 12 June, beating the year’s target of 230 million kg. It also means the previous record of 259 million kg delivered in 2019 has been topped. 18 million kg have been sold on auction floors, while contractors account for 242 million kg sold.
On day 64 of the current marketing season, USD 787 million have been generated compared to the USD 511 million that were taken over the same period last season, reports The Sunday Mail. The highest price per kg so far lay at USD 6.10 on the contract floors and USD 4.99 at auction, the lowest price was USD 0.10.
