Retailers’ obligation to rotate health warnings on tobacco products has been lifted in favour of returning that responsibility to manufacturers and importers, said Assistant Treasurer David Bradbury.

An amendment to the Competition and Consumer (Tobacco) Information Standard of 2011 reinstates the responsibility for producers and importers under the Trade Practices (Consumer Product Information Standards – Tobacco) Regulations of 2004, Bradley said in a statement. The change will reduce unnecessary cost and administrative burden on small businesses selling tobacco products, according to the statement.
