Reynolds American has asked the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to help put a stop to the production and sale of disposable e-cigarettes, reports CStoreDecisions.
The tobacco company has submitted a formal citizen petition to the FDA asking it to put into force a policy to target disposable e-cigarettes such as Puff Bar and Elf Bar. These two brands were mentioned by name since Reynolds American feels that they are marketed towards young teenagers.
“A new enforcement policy, one that is specifically directed at these disposables that are on the market illegally, is needed to better protect public health,” Reynolds American stated, according to STAT.
Reynolds wants the FDA to increase retail inspections and seize disposable products at the US border, according to CStoreDecisions. So far, the FDA has only taken action against a few disposable e-cigarette brands not including Elf Bar, despite its products being sold illegally throughout the US.
