Reynolds applies to reintroduce berry flavour

Reynolds American is seeking the FDA’s permission to continue selling its Vuse Alto e-cigarette as well as to reintroduce its menthol and mixed berry liquid, reports Bloomberg.

Just days ahead of the deadline for companies to submit applications for review by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Reynolds American, a unit of British American Tobacco Plc, has filed applications for its Vuse device and 12 cartridges. The company wants permission to continue selling its menthol flavour and also reintroduce the mixed berry nicotine liquid it was forced to stop selling earlier in the year. According to Bloomberg, the application for the berry-flavoured pod is set to test the FDA’s stand on flavours which the regulator had previously banned due to the appeal sweet flavours have on youths.
Reynolds has now filed a total of 530,000 pages of scientific data to support its applications which also includes submissions for its Vuse Solo and Velo products, reports Bloomberg.
“It’s a great relief to have it done and we’re obviously very thrilled about that, and we look forward to working with the FDA as these applications move through the process,” said Jim Figlar, head of scientific and regulatory affairs at Reynolds.
