In a letter to the National Fire Protection Association RJ Reynolds announced on Thursday its plans to convert to fire-safe standards complaint paper on all its cigarette brands by the end of 2009.

RJ Reynolds said that it “has undertaken a rigorous internal process, in conjunction with suppliers, to plan for the voluntary manufacture and distribution of FSC paper on its brands as sufficient volume becomes available for those states yet to adopt FSC statutes.”
The implementation will be phased in with full distribution expected to be achieved in the latter part of 2009. (pi)
