San Francisco residents who live in apartment buildings with three or more units will no longer be allowed to smoke tobacco inside their homes, reports CNN.
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors voted 10-1 on 1 December to ban smoking tobacco in apartments but made an exception for cannabis. The ordinance is an effort to protect residents from second-hand smoke. With its passage, smoking is prohibited inside buildings with three or more apartment units and in all common areas. But medical and "adult-use" cannabis are allowed, the ordinance states. Violators could face a USD 1,000 fine, the report said.
