Savanna to build cigarette plant in Mozambique

“We continue to grow our footprint into the region, and we have been exporting a lot of finished cigarettes into Mozambique”, said Adam Molai, Savanna executive chairman, in remarks reported by the newspaper.
Savanna, maker of Pacific, Branson and Pegasus cigarettes, exports about 85 per cent of its products, and sells the remainder in its home market, according to NewsDay. The company based in Harare has invested about USD 5 million in equipment to pack cigarettes into small packs of two, five and 10, in line with changing consumer demand. Sale of loose sticks is forbidden, and consumers are turning to the more affordable, smaller packs, NewsDay said on its website.
