Scandinavian Tobacco Group has decided to close the group’s facility in Tucker, Georgia, it announced in a press release.

Brands within Scandinavian Tobacco Group Lane Ltd’s portfolio of pipe tobacco, fine-cut tobacco and little cigars are currently manufactured in the facility in Tucker. The press release states, that since these markets are declining, the facility will be closed with production moving to facilities in Assens and Holstebro, Denmark and Santiago, the Dominican Republic.
The decision to close the Tucker facility is expected to improve the Group’s overall annual cost structure by more than EUR 2.68 million when the closure and move have been implemented by the end of 2020. The transfer of production is expected to incur investments of about EUR 4.01million.
The closure will see the number of the Group’s production sites reduced from 12 to 11, with affected employees being terminated and offered outplacement support, the press release says.
