Armenia has banned the use of tobacco products and alternatives in public places such as restaurants, cafes and bars, reports the Public Radio of Armenia.
The new law is in place from now onwards and also applies to open-air public catering establishments. According to the Public Radio of Armenia, violation of the ban will lead to fines of AMD 150,000 – 200,000 (USD 300 – 400) for officials and AMD 50,000 (USD 100) for other individuals. The RA Police will be responsible for checking and controlling that the new law is observed. The aim behind the prohibition is to protect present and future generations from negative health impacts that are caused by using tobacco products.
