A ban on smoking in restaurants, public buildings and public transport stops signed into law in June has taken effect, the Ukrainian News Agency reported.

Use of tobacco products, electronic cigarettes and shisha is forbidden outside of designated smoking areas, the news agency said. Smoking areas cannot represent more than 10 per cent of an establishment. They must be equipped with ventilation and supplied with information about the health hazards of tobacco use. Violations are subject to fines, the news agency said. (pi)
