The Ukrainian Ministry of Economy has issued a decree banning tobacco smoking from all public catering facilities.
As of 10 June 2006, smoking in restaurants, cafes and bars is permitted only in places specially meant for the purpose and equipped with smoke-consuming systems or forced ventilation. The decree is issued in pursuance of last year’s law on tobacco control aimed at curtailing tobacco smoking in the country. However, no punitive sanctions against infringers are specified.
