KYRGYZSTAN
Smoking in cafes and restaurants banned

Smoking of cigarettes, hookahs and mixtures will be prohibited in cafes, restaurants and bars, reports AKIpress.

"Smoking will be prohibited in bars, restaurants, cafes. If a person wants to smoke, he or she will have to go outside. Such smoking ban was adopted and is effective in 160 countries. Many tobacco companies are active in Kyrgyzstan. They were expelled from countries with strong smoking ban. For this reason this law was adopted with difficulties, but it was signed yet," said MP Ainuru Altybaeva.
The Cabinet of Ministers is yet to adopt secondary legislation necessary for regulation of this law. "We removed the norm on prohibition of smoking closer than 10 meters to bus stops, 100 meters to educational institutions, healthcare organizations and other facilities. All that will be regulated by secondary legislation that will be adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers," Altybaeva said.
