The Lithuanian government approved amendments to the law on tobacco control imposing a ban on tobacco smoking in all public catering and entertainment facilities, including night and disco clubs.
The revised law is expected to come into force as of 1 January 2008. According to the bill, smoking will be permitted only in places specially meant for the purpose. The ban is imposed to curtail ill effects of passive smoke, informs Regnum news agency. The bill is now to be submitted for parliamentary consideration. (vt)
